Amira Haidar (President)
She/Her

Amira is currently a Master of Public Health candidate in the department of Health Management and Policy at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and a Master of Business candidate in Management and Finance at Wayne State University. Amira is working towards a
career in health policy, reducing health disparities, and project management at the capacity of healthcare leadership.

Amira is also an active member in her community, frequently participating in local elections, municipal meetings, and grassroots organizing in effort of advocating for representation and health equity. She formerly held the position of Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist at Leaders Advancing and Helping Communities for two years. Amira’s passion for community health, bilingual capabilities, and implementation of culturally sensitive practices make her a trusted professional in the community she serves. Beyond school and work, her hobbies include
playing tennis, reading, and planning events.

Rachel Domzalski (Vice President)
She/Her

Rachel Domzalski is a second-year Master's of Public Health student at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She received her undergraduate degree in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health Education from Eastern Michigan University. Rachel is interested in how policy can influence behavior change and how to create policy that provides equity to those in working environments. In her free time, Rachel enjoys hiking, listening to podcasts, and spending time with her friends and family.

Abigail Lindsay (Education Chair)
She/Her

Abby is a second-year master’s student at the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health, concentrating in health management and policy. Previously, she practiced as a Medical ICU nurse. Nursing furthered her passion for advocating for marginalized communities and lit anew interest in health policy. She aspires to be a health policy analyst, with interests in health equity, health care reform, Medicaid policy, and Medicare-Medicaid coordination. She loves being outdoors and active, walking her dog, biking, reading historical non-fiction, and spending free time with her family and friends. 

Ketan Revankar (Advocacy Chair)
He/Him

Ketan is a fourth-year student in the Program in International and Comparative Studies studying Global Health and Environment. He is a Michigan native, and a previous Economics major, which furthered his passion for social change and policy while highlighting his disdain for excessive math. In 2021, Ketan worked as an intern with the Borgen Project, a grassroots organization committed to increasing support for global poverty and development legislation, learning different effective methods to advocate for US policies to Congress and State Representatives, and also served as a research intern with Henry Ford Global Health Initiative, researching key demographics and statistics across numerous countries to inform stakeholders about where a new hospital should be built abroad. Ketan is especially interested in Global health policy as it relates to health equity and increasing access to care in developing parts of the world. In his free time, Ketan enjoys producing music, singing, hitting the gym, and cooking high quality cuisine.

Hassan Kourani (Finance Chair) He/Him

Hassan is a second year MHSA student studying health management and policy at the School of a public health. Hassan is a Michigan native and earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Michigan-Dearborn. His health policy interests include health politics/law, financing, pharmaceutical economics, and health insurance. Outside of public health, Hassan enjoys reading, watching movies, and biking.

Jumanah Anwar (Professional Development Chair)
She/Her

Jumanah is currently a Master's in Health Services Administration candidate at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Her interest in policy developed during her time at SPH as it became clear to her about how much policy dictates a population's health. This interest grew during her summer experience where she worked on Medicare Advantage plans, how CMS regulates such plans, and how policy determines payment to begin with. In her free time, Jumanah can be found in her hammock, either listening to a podcast or reading a book.

 

Kyra Martin (Marketing and Communications Chair) She/Her

Kyra is a second-year master’s student at the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, concentrating on public health and policy analysis. She is passionate about using data to identify, research, and advocate for policy solutions to health crises. She has interests in health equity and women’s public health, including reproductive justice, intimate partner violence, and maternal mortality. In her spare time, Kyra is (attempting) to teach herself to cook.
