Leah Owens (President)
She/Her/Hers

Leah is pursuing a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Her overarching professional goal is to help build a society marked by the way we care for our communities and foster a culture that prioritizes health. Through her work at the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research at Michigan State University, Leah had the opportunity to connect academic research to policy education and work on the dissemination of policy issue briefs. At Michigan, she has been an active participant in the HPSA’s Lansing Day. Leah enjoys working out, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.

Sienna Mark (Vice President)
She/Her/Hers

Sienna Mark is currently a Master of Public Health Candidate at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She is passionate about equity, creativity, leadership, and diversity in public health and hopes to utilize practice-informed research to enhance awareness of the importance of public health and contribute to the education of future public health professionals. She has a strong interest in engaging in human-centered global health, disaster management, and health policy research. In her free time, Sienna loves to travel, hike, ski, and test new recipes.

Hannah Lane (Education Chair)
She/Her/Hers

Hannah is a second-semester student in the Masters in Social Work program. She is studying Policy and Political Social Work and is interested in macro work specifically in health care and health care policy. In her free time, she enjoys riding her bike, binging Netflix, and hanging out with her dogs!

 

Natalie Lawson (Advocacy Chair)
She/Her/Her

Natalie is currently a Master of Health Services Administration candidate at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Previously, she worked as a mental health social worker and in nonprofit policy advocacy. Natalie aspires to be a national health policy expert, with specific interests in mental health policy, substance use policy, Medicaid, and building the capacity of the behavioral health workforce. She loves coffee, cooking (not baking), hiking, freestyle embroidery, and quality time with friends and family.

Marie Montas (Professional Development Chair)
She/Her/Hers

Marie is an MPH student in Global Health Management and Policy and a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. An economist by training, Marie is passionate about social issues, especially related to public health, and wants to dedicate her life to applying evidence-based strategies to prevent inefficient and inequitable outcomes in global health. She loves learning from new perspectives, which motivated her to be a polyglot. As a Caribbean from the Dominican Republic, you can find Marie dancing salsa or losing track of time at the beach or mountains in her free time.
